Suffering Makes Christ's Gospel More Visible

Ray Stedman says this old guy drove this old "whooptie" of a car with smoking muffler and leaking radiator but kept saying “I’ve got a new Mercedes Benz in my garage”. People keep saying "well drive it" rather than talk about it. He kept saying it’s in my garage. Same with us when we keep saying we have this Jesus and this Gospel in our lives…

In one parable Jesus told the story of a man who was wise for the future. He forgave in this life to be accepted in the next. He gave in this life to redeemed in the next.
In an other parable Jesus told the story of a man who did not give in this life but lived sumptiously without regard to the beggar lazarus outside his door. He did not prepare to the future. And in vision Jesus tells of how he lamented his former life.
So what do we have a wise man who looks to the future and another fool who laments the past. So what is Jesus telling us about what real wisdom.
In another, yet parable Jesus tells of how some workers came from field and wanted to eat, but the master told them, you will not eat until you serve me first. They said in heart we are unworthy servants, we done only what was our minimal duty.
So where do we stand? Which parable tells our story. Are we truly wise and take out our mercedez and take the neighbor for a ride? Or are we fools living in apparent selfish sumptious living not looking for what comes aheah.
Or are we the unworthy servants doing the minimal stuff, touching bases and just completing the duty requirements of a christian? Remember what the parable says: You serve while I eat then you can sit down at my feast and eat!
Do not be mislead friends, wisdom has its place in the life to come. Do not trust your instict on what you should be doing in this life, because it will pass and you will either be wise or be a lamenting fool. Take heed for your soul's sake...
