Sermons about Adoption
God has created the church - a group of people - to demonstrate his love to the world through service to others, including the ministry of adoption - of finding room in our lives for the less fortunate and those that need us. It's His church, not ours, and it's people, not a building, and it's there to give, not to take. Text is Acts 19:11-30, NASB, as the early church begins to reach out beyond its natural borders of people groups and take its message to the world, especially by helping people.
Each of us has a deep need to feel connected, but often we go through life lonely. Does the Bible have anything to say about this? Exploring John 1:12-13 we will discover who we are and our relationship with God. It is important to contrast the way we tend to address our loneliness and the way the Bible addresses it. We tend to look for connections in negative areas of life. The Bible says that our loneliness and alienation will only truly be healed when we are adopted into the family of God.
In Galatians 4:3-9, we see the amazing truth that before the foundation of the world, God chose to adopt us into his family. This took his Son agreeing to come down to earth and rescue rebellious sinners by dying on the cross. This gracious God adopts us into his diverse family so that the world will know his love and so that his people might love and adopt the fatherless.
