Does God Answer Prayer?
Does God hear and answer our prayers? Yes, but sometimes we question Him when things don't seem to be going our way. We should remember that God often answers our prayers not by giving us what we want, but by giving us what we need.

Chase the Lion (#3): Overcoming Adversity
Adversity is a given in life. How do we overcome adversity? We worship our way through it. Worship is the way out. Worship changes things. Worship changes our perspective. We regain perspective through worship. Worship changes our circumstances. Worship is more than therapeutic wish fulfillment. When we connect with the fundamental reality of the universe, things (besides us) change.

Acts 27:1-44 - In the Storm
Paul was taken on a voyage from Caesarea to Rome in order to stand trial before the Emperor. The ship took too long to get to Rome and ended up getting caught in a vicious winter storm in the Mediterranean. The passengers began to despair because these storms almost always destroyed the ship and killed everyone aboard, but God told Paul that everyone on board would survive and that he would stand trial before the Emperor. Paul trusted in this promise from God and encouraged the other passengers. The ship ended up breaking apart on a shoal but everyone aboard made it to shore safely. In our live we are all going to have to weather periods of adversity, suffering, and trial, but in those times we should not wilt and give up hope but instead to stand firm and cling to the promises of God that He is there with us in the midst of our trials and He has promised to work all of our difficult circumstances out for the good of those who love Him.

Acts 22:22-23:11 – Strengthened During Suffering
After Paul was taken into custody by the Roman soldiers he narrowly avoided being flogged by them. Later he was brought before the Jewish authorities and the proceedings turned violent and Paul had to be rescued again from the mob. That night, while in prison, Jesus came and stood by Paul and encouraged him by saying that he was faithfully proclaiming the good news about Himself and that he was on his way to do the same in Rome. God is in complete control when we are going through times of suffering but that does not mean that He will always protect us from them. He is also near to us in these times, though, and if we draw near to Him He will comfort us and strengthen us to continue to live with Him on the mission that He has called us to.

The Blind Can See, But The Religious Can't
For many people, the greatest roadblock to faith; the lingering question that needs to be answered in order to trust God, has to do with the problem of pain. In his book of that title, C.S. Lewis said that “The possibility of pain is inherent in the very existence of a world where souls can meet.†Why does suffering happen? Whose fault is it? What role does God have in it? Why doesn’t God do something to stop the suffering we face? This is the very question that Jesus is asked here in John 9
