New Service for New Purpose
The imperative to wash and anoint when one fast is given because of the gloomy faced legalist did not understand the purpose of fasting. Jesus' does not command the fast but like prayer His command deals with the way we fast. We have the new wine of life that should be lived by practices that are to fulfill the new purpose of living in the Holy Spirit. Series: Teaching Them to Obey All That I Have Commanded You
Jesus Anointed by a Sinful Woman
We go through the story of the woman who anointed Jesus and washed his feet with her tears. We are reminded that we are sinful people by nature and that it is important for us to realize this. When we realize that we are sinful, then we are truly in awe about how we are saved by faith alone and not by the things that we have done.
It's No Coincidence (I Samuel 9 1-10 9) 5-9-10
The story of Saul and the lost donkeys is an important reminder that God truly is in control, even over the mundane circumstances of life, and all for His glory and our good.
A Life Poured Out For Thee
When Mary took the alabaster box of precious ointment and anointed the head of Jesus, the Lord gave an amazing commendation for her deed of devotion. Each of us have something very precious as well, and we would do well to pour it out unto the Lord. If and when we do, we can take something that was temporal and give it eternal value.
Revelation 3v14-22 The Church At Laodicea
Christ starts his letter stating He is the truth, He only deals in truth. This is to let the people know that what he is about to tell them is the truth. How about you are you ready to here the truth about yourself. We have a picture of the church, and Christ says, “I will vomit you out of My mouth”. Are you lukewarm? Then take counsel and encouragement from Christ.

A God Who Cares: For the Sick and Afflicted
So most of us Baptists and evangelicals do safe prayers or simply ignore the sick and afflicted. And many of the sick and afflicted are left wondering if anyone really cares. Proposition: God cares greatly about the sick and afflicted. And God is a God of healing and expects us to pray for healing and care for the sick and afflicted. James gives the sick and the church some lessons about the sick and afflicted.
