Sermons About Antichrists
Hold on and keep going
For a Christian, nothing can be sadder than seeing someone who used to profess faith in the Lord, slip out of their relationship with God. We may think that we are at greatest risk when going about our lives in the World, but in 1 John we are warned that the greatest threat comes from those who have a veneer of Christianity, an association with the Church. In those places and situations when we feel safest, we are most at risk. People like this who seek to lead believers astray are called 'antichrists'. The spirit of the antichrist is in the World and we need to be on our guard, testing everything we hear and read against the teachings of the Apostles. John gives three defences against their claims: 1. There is no 'special knowledge' - we already have the Spirit; 2. There is no 'denial of Jesus' - we only know the Father through Him; 3. There is no 'new teaching' - we have had the truth from the beginning.
