Is Certainty Bad?
In this second week of epistemology, we take a survey of the history of Western thought. The purpose will be to show how civilization has regressed in its foundational understanding of what reason is and what it does. Realism—the view that sees metaphysical essences such as truth, justice, the laws of logic, and the object as it is in itself as actually existent and knowable realities—has been discarded, particularly in the aftermath of Kant. Consequently, all Western thought since (including all Evangelical thought) has followed this regress in the mind.
What Kind of Reality is the Real One?
Now we start to look at the different elements of metaphysics: being, essence, cause, necessity, contingency, form, matter, actuality, and potentiality. We look at the five kinds of causes—efficient, formal, material, instrumental, and end—and briefly define the five different arguments for the existence of God within natural theology. Finally, we offer our own argument that we call “The Blue Marble†proof.
