The Ark Of The Covenant
This sermon takes a look at God's command and the detail God gave to building the Ark of the Covenant. It looks at the parameters, the possessions, the covering, the purpose, the place, the perfection, the persecution, and the provision of the Ark. This box that is over 3,400 years old was a symbol of the one who was to come 2000 years ago. Mercy is above the Law!

Remembrance of Things to Come
The Hebrew scriptures during Lent this year focus on the faithfulness of God, who makes covenant with us. Today, we recall that God, distressed over the sinfulness of humankind, begins to regret creating it, and determines to destroy the earth and most of its people and even its animals. Only Noah and his family, and a pair of each kind of animal, will be saved to populate the world over again. It rained for 40 days, and the floodwaters covered the earth for 150 days. At the end of it, only those who were taken into the ark Noah built at God’s command are left alive.

The Ark of the Covenant
God's glory is real and awesome. This text shows that God's glory is at odds with man's contempt, religiosity and wilfulness. We show contempt for God's glory when we are hypocritical, superstitious or presumptuous. Our wilfulness and innate desire to find significance beyond the finite and material can also work against us understanding God's glory. But God's glory is fully expressed in the person of Jesus Christ and appreciated through the Gospel.

2 Samuel 6:1-11 "The Danger of a Build-a-god Workshop; When the Holy is Treated as Common"
God is who He says He is, He cannot change, He cannot be made to be like the god that we might desire. Either we take Him as HE is or we risk creating idols.

The Death of Uzzah
In Israel there was no greater vessel than the Ark of the Covenant. In 2 Samuel 6 a man name Uzzah reaches out his hand to catch the falling Ark, and is killed on the spot. In this message we will look at God's Fury against so called little sins, and the importance of regular individual confession of sin.

Noah and the Great Flood
Why did God choose Noah? Why did God bring about a destructive flood? Was the flood local or global? Should this really be children's book material? Were the people really that bad? Hear about the sheer grace of God who saves and uses us, not because we are good guys, but because he is gracious, kind and long suffering.
