Spiritual Battle
What image does the apostle Paul want to leave burned in the minds of anyone who reads his letter to the Ephesians - Spiritual battle. Paul tells us we have been given every resource we need to stand in the victory won for us by Jesus.

The Armor Of God
In concluding this extraordinary letter, Paul sums up all of the power and blessings that come from the gospel in this extended metaphor of a Christian battling against the forces of evil and darkness in the world. He combines the image of a roman soldier with the Old Testament imagery of God himself coming to defend and fight for his own people. Christians are to wear this same armor so that they can resist the power of the devil and push back the darkness in our world today.

Ephesians 6.10-20
The book of Ephesians displays God's great plan of creating a new counter-culture society, a city within a city, out of diverse people. The church is heaven breaking into earth as she lives out God's vision for redeemed humanity amidst the watching world. The local church is to demonstrate to a watching world what it looks like to love God and care for others. Paul brings his letter to a fitting conclusion as he explains how to stand firm against the evil one.

Putting on the Armor
Continuing with the theme of "Spiritual Warfare" we examine the consummate passage on the subject, the Full Armor of God from Ephesians 6:10-18. As I approached this very doctrinal letter of the Apostle Paul I followed through this section in what seems to me the only logical way to do so, to take the important doctrines of justification, election, faith, the Gospel, etc and make an application of them at the end of the letter. I would love to know whether this section of the Bible becomes more clear to you as you hear it presented in this light. This is the testimony of many of those who have heard it in the past.
