Sermons About Assurance
True Spiritual Hunger (Matthew 5:6)
The crowds Jesus was addressing were generally very religiously committed; their very cultural and national identity was defined by their religion. Among them, also, were the extremely committed and in many areas doctrinally sound Pharisees. But what they all have in common is a sense of security and self-sufficiency in their religion. But Jesus is cutting through all of that and addressing the one thing that really matters: the inner realities of the heart. This morning we come to “blessed are those who are hungering and thirsting after righteousness.”

Beginning our latest series through the book of 1 Peter, Lance calls us to see our living hope of being born again, our inheritance that is kept for us in heaven, and our need to respond to our salvation with praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

1 John 3--Assurance through Love and Obedience
Even after establishing three ways a Christian can KNOW with Assurance that they are truly a child of God, John reiterates himself again to drive his point home. He raises the issue of keeping God's commandments and showing Christ-like love for one another as two JEY ways to know that a Christian is truly saved. And even if a believer still feels condemned in their heart or conscious, they can still approach God in prayer with confidence; because God already knows their heart and knows all things.
