Storms: "The Heart of the Matter"
In relationships the heart matters. Its shape, condition and vitality. To God the heart matters as well. Most times condition of our heart determines the condition of our relationships. Scripture: NLT: Proverbs 21:1-3 1 The king's heart is like a stream of water directed by the LORD; he turns it wherever he pleases. 2 People may think they are doing what is right, but the LORD examines the heart. 3 The LORD is more pleased when we do what is just and right than when we give him sacrifices. I. In Relationships the heart matters II. To God the heart matters III. God sees what's on the inside 1st

Graduation
Synopsis: In life graduation is necessary and certain. In God graduation is also necessary and certain. Jesus prepared his disciples for Spiritual graduation. They were challenged to go out... Scripture: NIV: Matthew 28:16-20 16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." Points: 1. Excitement 2. Anxiety 3. Authority 4. Commission 5. Promise

PRAYER: Full Time Job
Synopsis: Elijah was expecting God to answer his prayers in a certain way and through his experience he learned to listen for the way God communicated. Prayer is communication with God that we do everyday all the time. It is more than a part time activity; learning to pray is a full-time job. Three steps (please display them on the screen together as well as individually when they come up): Listening Living Learning Text: 1 Kings 19:11 - 12 (NIV) 11 The LORD said, "Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the LORD, for the LORD is about to pass by." Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake. 12 After the earthquake came a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. Please display a quote from a book I will read. Prayers by Michel Quoist. If we knew how to listen to God, if we knew how to look around us, our whole life would become prayer. For it unfolds under God’s eyes and no part of it must be lived without being freely offered to Him. At first we communicate with words, which may be dispensed with later on…as one does the peelings of a fruit. Words are only a means. However, the silent prayer which has moved beyond words must always spring from everyday life, for everyday life is the raw material of prayer. Under the last section, Learning, please list 4 bullets: Praying the Scriptures Conquering the Attention Span God Cares All the TIme Forming a Relationship Under Praying the scriptures, display additional scripture: Psalm 103:1 Bless the LORD, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless God's holy name!

Significant
Synopsis: Two Part Sermon/ Part One: A young boy give Jesus a small lunch (2 fish and five loves of bread). Jesus takes the lunch and feeds more than five thousand. Often times what is insignificant to us is significant to Jesus Scripture: John 6: 1-14 NIV John 6:1 Some time after this, Jesus crossed to the far shore of the Sea of Galilee (that is, the Sea of Tiberias), 2 and a great crowd of people followed him because they saw the miraculous signs he had performed on the sick. 3 Then Jesus went up on a mountainside and sat down with his disciples. 4 The Jewish Passover Feast was near. 5 When Jesus looked up and saw a great crowd coming toward him, he said to Philip, "Where shall we buy bread for these people to eat?" 6 He asked this only to test him, for he already had in mind what he was going to do. 7 Philip answered him, "Eight months' wages would not buy enough bread for each one to have a bite!" 8 Another of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, spoke up, 9 "Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many?" 10 Jesus said, "Have the people sit down." There was plenty of grass in that place, and the men sat down, about five thousand of them. 11 Jesus then took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed to those who were seated as much as they wanted. He did the same with the fish. 12 When they had all had enough to eat, he said to his disciples, "Gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted." 13 So they gathered them and filled twelve baskets with the pieces of the five barley loaves left over by those who had eaten. 14 After the people saw the miraculous sign that Jesus did, they began to say, "Surely this is the Prophet who is to come into the world." But God
Synopsis: There are moments when we clearly recognize God's hands of mercy and deliverance in our lives Scripture: Acts 10: 34-40 (NIV) 34 Then Peter began to speak: "I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism 35 but accepts men from every nation who fear him and do what is right. 36 You know the message God sent to the people of Israel, telling the good news of peace through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all. 37 You know what has happened throughout Judea, beginning in Galilee after the baptism that John preached-- 38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him. 39 "We are witnesses of everything he did in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem. They killed him by hanging him on a tree, 40 but God raised him from the dead on the third day and caused him to be seen.

So you want to be a Rock Star?
Summary: The modern day image of celebrity is one that admired, cheered and uplifted. Through Easter Jesus shows us a different image of a Rock Star. Scripture: Luke 9: 18-27 18 Once when Jesus was praying in private and his disciples were with him, he asked them, "Who do the crowds say I am?" 19 They replied, "Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, that one of the prophets of long ago has come back to life." 20 "But what about you?" he asked. "Who do you say I am?" Peter answered, "The Christ of God." 21 Jesus strictly warned them not to tell this to anyone. 22 And he said, "The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, chief priests and teachers of the law, and he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life." 23 Then he said to them all: "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. 24 For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will save it. 25 What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit his very self? Warfare
Ephesians 6:10-13 (New International Version) New International Version (NIV) Copyright © 1973, 1978, 1984 by International Bible Society The Armor of God 10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

Unpredictable
1 Samuel 16:6-7 (New International Version) New International Version (NIV) Copyright © 1973, 1978, 1984 by International Bible Society 6 When they arrived, Samuel saw Eliab and thought, "Surely the LORD's anointed stands here before the LORD." 7 But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart."
