Q And A With Dr. Steve Lawson
In an age of water-downed theology and casual Christianity, the church desperately needs to return to the doctrines of grace that shook the world during the Reformation. These grand truths-historically referred to as the five points of Calvinism (TULIP)-form a biblical outline of God's sovereign plan for saving sinners. Sadly, these foundational principles the Bible so clearly teaches about salvation are often misunderstood and misrepresented and as a result are often discredited and dismissed as divisive doctrines, or worse, unbiblical ones. Consequently, many Christians never experience the God-glorifying, Christ-exalting, pride-crushing, gratitude-inducing, worship-inspiring, missions-motivating, evangelism-encouraging, discipleship-promoting, soul-comforting, faith-strengthening, and life-changing effects that occur when one fully embraces the sovereign grace of God.

2 Samuel 21:1-14 - The Cost of Covenant Breaking
Chapter 21 starts a new section (21-24) in closing the book of 2 Samuel. Some thing think that this secion is an intrusion to our the them of transition (David to Soloman). But I believe that the author is making a conclding point on how God's kingdom is to be goverend. In our passage in 2 Samuel 21, David's kingdom is experiencing a famine which causes David to pray to find out its cause. God says it is because the bloodguilt on Saul because he put the Gibeonites (who had made a Covenant with Israel in the name of the Lord (see Joshuah 9)) to death. David Doesn't pray for a solution but seeks atonement with the Gibeonites who want 7 men to pay with their lives. The difference between David and Saul is show by David loyality to the covenant he made with Jonathan to protect Mephibosheth (Jonathan's son). it ends with showing Rispah love for her son in protecting the bodyas and David giving Saul, Jonathan and the other that were hanged to bury them. We learn how misplaced zeal can cause us not to rely on our covenant with God and his mercy.

A Ransom For Many
What is the meaning of the death of Jesus? Why did it happen? What does it mean for us today? The center of Christianity has always been the cross - remove the cross, and you don't have Christianity.

The Death of Jesus, Part 2 (Mark 15:33-41)
The atonement made by Jesus in his death has innumerable facets. Considering four of these facets in particular, we see Jesus as the triumphant king (<em>Christus victor</em>); the mediator who bridges the gap of sin that separates us from God; the ultimate moral example for us; and chief of all, our own sacrifice and substitute suffering under and completely satisfying the wrath of God in our place and whose righteousness now clothes us.

The Death of Jesus, Part 1 (Mark 15:16-39)
<em>The Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.</em> Mark highlights the irony that Jesus is mocked as king, but he is in fact king of all. Jesus suffers not only physical pain, but also the very wrath of God, in fulfillment of Old Testament prophecy and types, and to secure our salvation and life by suffering in our place. We are no longer separated from the presence of and fellowship with God, and in fact the crucifixion reveals clearly God's love for us. The only proper response is for us to worship in awe and gratitude.

Adoption: The Height of the Gospel
Adoption is an important and helpful metaphor to better understand what God has done in saving us, and how He changes our lives. The very end of the sermon was not recorded. Sorry.
