Standing in the Gap
Over the next 4 weeks we are going to talk about the call to transform our culture through missional living. "Missional" seems to be the latest "buzz-word" in the evangelical world; it describes a life that is lived "on mission". It is a concept that fits well with Jesus teaching that we are to be agents of change in our world. Jesus used metaphors of salt and light and yeast. Paul called us to be ambassadors. How should Kelowna be different because we were here? To begin this series, we begin by looking at the incredible power God has entrusted to His people, and the expression of that power through our prayers. What Binds You?
Jesus miraculously frees a woman bound by sickness despite the angry and hypocritical opposition of a synagogue official. In loosening her bonds he demonstrates himself to be the glorious one and ensures that there will be a reckoning for hypocrites who place their religiousity over untying people in bondage. What binds you? Are you bound by sin and pain from your past or are you bound the hypocrisy of your present? Hear this message today: Jesus offers freedom.

A New Authority
Mark's first picture of Jesus in ministry is a the story of a powerful ministry confrontation. Jesus comes into a synagogue to teach and the people are amazed at the authority in his words and character. A demon immediately cries out, and again the people marvel at Jesus' authority to silence the demon. What do we do with One with such authority? How are we to respond? Like the disciples, the only right response is to follow.
