Make disciples because all authority is Jesus'. He only has the authority to reveal God, forgive sin, make alive, and command and send
God created the institution of family in the very beginning, and designed for children to be born to a mother and a father. His intention was for children to be safe, secure, provided for and discipled by a loving, godly father and mother. Due to sin, and over time, we have drifted far from God’s original plans and purposes for family, but it is never too late to recapture what He has desired all along!
Respect for authority honors God. The challenge we have is our perspective. We have a tendency to focus on the "what", not on the "who." We need to serve our employers like we would serve Jesus Christ, with integrity, and with excellence and enthusiasm. The only person that can change my attitude is me. Our perspective toward work should be an attitude of service.
In John 6 we see that Jesus comes to us in the storms of our life not to take us out of them but to show us that he has authority over them. The goal of this text is to get us to trust Jesus in the midst of our suffering.
Ultimate freedom is found under the authority of God. We need to teach our children how to respect authority. Children need to respect and follow their parents. Parents need to respect and lead our children. Respect for authority in the home paves the way for respect in every arena of life.
Many Christians believe that they have authority to bind Satan and demons. But did Jesus teach that we have been given this kind of authority?
