When My Circumstances Work Out Right
From his prison cell, Paul looks at his situation and shows us that happiness doesn’t have to be based on our circumstances. His bad, mixed, and future circumstances actually fill him with happiness because he has allowed the gospel and his passion to inform how he responds.

The Revelation of Jesus Christ. Revelation 1: 1-20
This is the first in a new series looking at the letters to the seven churches. As we go through the series, we need to remember four things: 1. The letters re addressed to seven churches and they deal with specific situations faced by those churches, 2. Reading the book of Revelation and taking it to heart (it must make a difference to you) will do you good, 3. It's all about Jesus, 4. There's a lot of symbolism n the language, but it all makes sense if you know the rest of the Bible! First, though, we find out about the person who's writing - or at least dictating - the letters! Do you know THIS Jesus? The one who holds the angels of the churches in his hands, who wears the robes of the great high priest, whose purity is absolute, whose blazing eyes miss nothing, whose words drown out all other sound and who is too glorious to look at. Do you know THIS Jesus? But, do not be afraid, for he loves you and cares about you. Application: 1. Get to know THIS Jesus if you are suffering or in a difficult place. By looking at this Jesus we will get a right perspective on our situation. 2. Get to know THIS Jesus if you're standing before him. We need to recognise his awesomeness and have it affect us properly! How do we get to know THIS Jesus? By doing as they early churches did; by reading the Word of God and taking it to heart.

Priestly Duty of Prayer
This morning from our text and the previous texts I want you to see three specific requests that we should bring before the throne of grace on behalf of our leaders. 1. We should pray that our leaders will proclaim to us the full counsel of God. 2. We should pray that our leaders will live lives that are worthy of imitation. 3. We should pray that our leaders will keep close watch over our souls.

A New People for an Old Message: A Study in 1 Peter, 2:13-25
Jesus is calling us to submit to government authorities for God’s sake. We as humanbeings aren’t willing to submit to anyone or anything, because we feel they have slighted us, or they don’t “Measure Up” to our standards. This isn’t what Jesus is calling us to. He is calling us to submit because our submission is to Him, as He submitted to His father in spite of people’s reaction to Him.

The Resurrection
The Resurrection of Jesus Christ is one of the central facts of Christianity, though the vast majority of society would consider it unimportant. The preacher believes this subject to be of shattering importance to your life, and his job today is to show us why this subject is of shattering importance to your life and mine.

A Perfect Savior (Perfect Submission and Trust), pt. 2 (Matthew 4:2-7)
The seduction of the world is strong and we all know it to one degree or the other. Temptation is a reality for everyone who lives in this fallen world under the influence of a master adversary, who is the “god of this world.” Temptations come in a variety of shapes, colors, and sizes but at the very heart of them all is our view of and relationship to God through Christ. All the sin of man from Genesis to Revelation; and all the lies, deception, and lust of Satan from the Garden to the Tribulation and the appearance of the antichrist and the beast are here in these 11 verses of our text. The battle that is really taking place here is of cosmic and eternal proportions; it represents and displays the battle between darkness and light that has existed since the fall of Satan and bears with it the very ramifications and outcome that determines existence and population of heaven and hell; eternal felicity and eternal suffering. You and I must get what is going on here if we are to rightly understand the glory of Christ in His redemptive work, by His being the perfect and sinless substitute for fallen man. And to understand the reality of the deception that lies behind every iniquity and every deception of this world of darkness. These temptations represent the heart of the temptations that you and I face every day. “Lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes, and the boastful pride of life.” Jesus Christ Conquered Satan and proves to be Perfect Savior we can trust and example we can follow. The Preparation and Perfection of Jesus Christ’s victory over temptation, so that we would increase in our wisdom, worship, and trust of Him.

The Sacrifice of Membership in the Body
Hebrews 13:17 has two commands for the church member that are pleasing sacrifices to the Lord. 1. We are to obey those that have rule over us. 2. We are to submit to those who have rule over us.

The Gospel of Authority
Ephesians 4:11-14 teaches that for the growth into unity of faith and the knowledge of Christ, spiritual leadership is necessary and instituted by God. This section of Scripture teaches important truths concerning the institution and function of spiritual leadership. Reference is made to Genesis 3 and Philippians 2, which refer to rebellion and submission to authority from Adam to Jesus, and why submission to authority is difficult.

Enduring by Entrusting (I Peter 2 18-25) 5-3-09
We endure under abusive authority by looking to Jesus' example, not responding in kind, and entrusting ourselves to the perfect justice of God, who will right every wrong in His timing and purpose.
