Sermons About Baby
Wonderful Counselor
The baby in the manger, the one we celebrate or at least see all over the place this time of year and gets us some time off from work and presents under the tree, He is here to claim His place of rightful leadership in our lives, to become the “Wonderful Counselor” of our lives. Not someone with just some good ideas or guidance or principles or values to consider as we live our lives, but the One whom we trust in all things, in every area of life to guide us and direct us, not as our adviser, but as our king. As Wonderful Counselor He is Lord to be followed and obeyed: His wisdom and understanding is so far beyond anything we could comprehend, it’s indescribable. That’s one way Isaiah describes Jesus.

God Connoisseurs
At The Oaks, we believe that all of life is worship. King Herod was a man who worshiped himself and his own rule above all else. Matthew contrasts Herod with a mysterious group of men called "The Magi". These men rolled into town and had a life-transforming encounter with the one true God, and were transformed. Pastor Kevin connects what we can learn about worship from both parties, and what true transformation looks like.

First to Worship
How do you respond when your enemies fall in worship before the Lord? That question might sound like a hypothetical debate for us today, but for the original readers of Matthew’s gospel account they had to face it head on. The very first people to engage in formal worship of the newborn king were from “the east.” We might call them the “Babylonian worship team.” The enemies and oppressors of the Jews were on their face in worship. Wow! What a paradigm shift! Key Passages: Matthew 2:1 & Isaiah 49:6

The Forerunner: John the Baptist
John the Baptist The Man, The Message, and the legacy. Jesus called John the greatest man born of woman. It wasn't because of his appearance, or how much money he had, It was because he submitted his life to Christ as we are all to do. The kingdom of heaven is near, just like it was in John's day. Jesus is coming soon the question is will we be ready. Will we be able to say that we have allowed Jesus to be more and self to be less?
