The Apostle John in his letter of 1 John masterfully uses contrast to teach what knowing, obeying and loving Christ truly look like. Light vs. Dark, Actions vs. mere words, Knowing Christ vs. Knowing about Christ, the Spirit of Truth vs. a spirit of falsehood are a few of the contrasts used in this short letter. Ultimately our lives are meant to be a beautiful contrast with those who live for and love the world. A Beautiful Contrast: We are great sinners and we have a Great Savior, Jesus Christ.
