Sermons About Behavior
Lasting Change Begins in the Heart
If we ever hope to experience lasting change in our lives, then we must deal with our problems on the heart level. The heart of our problem is the problem in our heart. Jesus made it very plain that we do the things we do because of what we have stored up in our hearts. People and circumstances are not the cause of our problems, they only provide occasions for our hearts to reveal themselves. Fruit change is a result of root change. The heart must be the target of our personal growth and ministry. God wants to produce a heart change in us and then use us to produce heart change in others.

Swine Flu
We can move through a corrupt culture, carelessly living like pigs without giving it a thought, catching diseases of the heart, mind and soul, and make others side besides. Or we can wash our lives in the blood of Christ, wash our hearts in the baptism of the Holy Spirit, wash our consciences in confession before God the Father, and watch the contaminating vomit of our lives be flushed down the sewer where it belongs.

Tapping Out Sin
If battling sin was like two mixed martial artists fighting in the octagon for everyone to see, then far too often we would find ourselves flat on the mat, tapping out to certain sins that have plagued us all our life. How is it that trying harder like praying more intensely and reading the Bible doesn't guarantee victory over sin? In his message Teaching Pastor Yancey Arrington will look at how we can actually find more wins than losses over that toughest of opponents...how we can truly tap out sin!

The Equation 5
Week five of our series The Equation finds us receiving some valuable instruction from Jesus. He encourages us to put what we have learned into practice. That seems like a very basic statement, right? Then why do we find ourselves retreating back into the darkness in so many areas of our life? Jesus reminds us that a mark of a true disciple or follower of His is a change of behavior, or in other words, putting feet to our theology. As we wrap up this series we will learn what Jesus calls each of us to do to live out our faith. This is week five of the equation.
