Sacred Parenting: God's Covenant
This week we begin a three week teaching series on Sacred Parenting. As Christian parents we are called to know, to remember and to grow when it comes to God-centered parenting. All this for the good of our children, but even above that, for the glory of God. As we begin we will lay such a foundation as we focus on our faithful God who keeps covenant with families.

Wii
Church Like You Never Expected: “Wii” Reconnect – May 31, 2009 Text: Acts 2:36-47; Romans 12:2 Key Thought: Faith deepens with the change that happens as we become: through experiencing life with Jesus together. “So let it be clearly known by everyone in Israel that God has made this Jesus whom you crucified to be both Lord and Messiah!” Peter’s words convicted them deeply, and they said to him and to the other apostles, “Brothers, what should we do?” Peter replied, “Each of you must turn from your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. This promise is to you and to your children, and even to the Gentiles – all who have been called by the Lord our God.” Then Peter continued preaching for a long time, strongly urging all his listeners, “Save yourselves from this generation that has gone astray!” Those who believed what Peter said were baptized and added to the church – about three thousand in all. They joined with the other believers and devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, sharing in the Lord’s Supper and in prayer. A deep sense of awe came over them all, and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders. And all the believers met together constantly and shared everything they had. They sold their possessions and shared the proceeds with those in need. They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity – all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their group those who were being saved. (Acts 2:36-47, NLT)

Faith, Hope and Luck - Part 2: Betting on Hope
There is a lot of confusion about what faith is—and what it isn't. The 'positive thinking' and 'betting-on-hope' that often disguises itself as faith today can sometimes actually destroy it . . . creating expectations that are never met. It often presumes upon God . . . and when God doesn’t come through, people are crushed. Learn what Biblical faith is really all about, and why it doesn't have to be so complicated.

Mii
Church Like You Never Expected: “Mii” Reconnect – May 24, 2009 Text: Matthew 16:13-17, John 12:44-46 Key Thought: Faith continues with an opportunity to further what we believe: in regards to Jesus and what He offers. When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?” “Well,” they replied, “some say John the Baptist, some say Elijah, and others say Jeremiah or one of the other prophets.” Then he asked them, “But who do YOU say I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” Jesus replied, “You are blessed, Simon son of John, because my Father in heaven has revealed this to you. You did not learn this from any human being. Now I say to you that you are Peter [which means ‘rock’], and upon this rock I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it. (Matthew 16:13-17, NLT)

Leap of Doubt: I Still Have Doubts, So I Can't be a Christian
• You might wonder – how could he know me and still love me? If Jesus is God, surely he knows about the terrible things I’ve done, the terrible thoughts that I’ve had. Surely Jesus, if He knows me better than I know myself, knows that I am simply unlovable. But this is where we need to know that the truth of Scripture trumps our personal feelings – the Bible assures us that Jesus knows us and loves us still. This is the amazing grace of the gospel story – not that I have to clean myself up before Jesus will accept me and love me, but that He loves me and accepts me first. He knew Mary’s name. He knows my name. And He knows yours.

Faith, Hope & Luck - Part 1: Better Odds
How do we know when faith is at work in our life, and not just the luck of the draw? And what is our faith built on really? Discover the real foundation for our faith that stands even in the most challenging times.

Thii
Church Like You Never Expected: “Thii” Reconnect – May 17, 2009 Text: Matthew 9:9-13; I Timothy 1:15-16 Key Thought: Faith begins with an invitation to find the place we belong: with Jesus and His people. As Jesus was going down the road, he saw Matthew sitting at his tax-collection booth. “Come, be my disciple,” Jesus said to him. So Matthew got up and followed him. That night Matthew invited Jesus and his disciples to be his dinner guests, along with his fellow tax collectors and many other notorious sinners. The Pharisees were indignant. “Why does your teacher eat with such scum?” they asked his disciples. When he heard this, Jesus replied, “Healthy people don’t need a doctor – sick people do.” Then he added, “Now go and learn the meaning of this Scripture: ‘I want you to be merciful; I don’t want your sacrifices.’ For I have come to call sinners, not those who think they are already good enough.” (Matthew 9:9-13, NLT)

Saying Isn't Believing pt 2
If we say forgiveness is important, powerful, and of God, that doesn't mean we truly believe it. We truly believe something when we act upon it. We believe these things about forgiveness only when we truly forgive. As James 2:18 declares, " Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do." So what does forgiveness truly mean and why should we forgive? This message looks at the depth of meaning and also the foundation of the character and nature of God found in John 17 for the answers.

We Believe...in one holy Church
We believe...and we are never the same. Stability for our kids and our community comes from the eternal stability of God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and Earth who for us and for our salvation became man in Jesus. He who delivered His own Son to death for us will also freely give us all things. That God, the Spirit, dwells in us corporately and individually for the common good.

Leap of Doubt: You Can't Take the Bible Literally
But the real reason many of us struggle with the inspiration of John 3:16 is not all those background issues – it is simply its content. That I am so messed up in my sin that God had to send His Son to rescue me from my own destruction. The question today, as it has been during this whole series, is whether I am allowing my doubts to keep me from trusting in Christ. Am I allowing my intellectual issues (that really aren’t that strong when we look at them clearly) to cover for my spiritual issues? The Bible says in John 3:16 that eternal life is available to you today if you will simply put your faith in Jesus Christ. He died for your sins and rose again so that you would be able to live with God forever, your sins forgiven, your heart cleansed, God’s wrath completely satisfied. Will you, today, put your trust in Christ?
