Grief in the Garden
Luke 22:39-53 In the hours following Jesus' amazing redefining of the traditional Passover, His disciples display the extent of their lack of insight into His message. Seemingly in a state of bewildered panic, they display the true nature of their hopes while Christ patiently points them to the ways of His Kingdom. In His Kingdom, greatness is measured by humility, not assertion. In His Kingdom, the road to ruling will be long and hard and the weapons of warfare are not physical. Yet, despite His continual teaching of the Disciples, they fail to grasp His message and trust His promises and commands. This leads them to their darkest hour, where they ignore their help, they violently assert themselves and then run away in fear and shame.
