Putting Gluttony To Death
Gluttony is sometimes referred to as the "acceptable sin" - it is perhaps the most accepted sin in the world and in the church. Gluttony can be defined as eating the wrong things at the wrong times for the wrong reasons. God gave us our bodies for His use and His glory, therefore, our passion should be to glorify Him more than satisfying ourselves. Maintaining this perspective can be a powerful remedy for the temptation to gluttony.

Hebrews 4:11-13 The Perfect and Powerful Word of God
Does Hebrews 4 actually say that the Word of God is sword OR does this passage say that the Word of God is SHARPER than a double-edged sword? If this is the case, then what does this passage mean? Is the Bible not an offensive weapon to be used against the enemy? Tune in and find out the truth of this abused passage.

Making Known His Word
One of the responsibilities God has given to his church and his people is to make known his word. In an age of extreme relativism where everyone judges truth for themselves, we must allow ourselves to be judged to be judged and evaluated by the Bible. Scripture teaches us about God, his gospel, and ourselves, and our proper response to this gospel. Our focus on his word is expressed in how much time we spend teaching it, studying it, memorizing it, discussing it. We are not only to proclaim God's word but also to treasure it, hear it, and respond to it appropriately.

Needing a Vacation (Psalm 104)
Life is filled with all sorts of landscape. An all terrain faith is equally balanced for the breathtaking view from the mountaintop and the confusing trek though a cold, dark valley. It provides adequate support for walking in rough, rocky stretches and stability for the slippery spots. In this exploration of the Psalms, we will see that no matter where you find yourself in life there is an appropriate faith response to your life situation. Are you ready for the hike?

The Model Church
Acts 2:42-47 provides a concise description of the first church. These verses include seven characteristics of a church that pleases and honors the Lord. Members of the early church were comprised totally of believers who were steadfast and worshiped in awe and wonder. They shared much and were unified such that they were stimulated immensely by the company of other believers. Finally, the early churched shined and grew in number by growing in edification and going forth to share the gospel with those outside the church. If today's church is faithful to this model, it will experience many blessings from the Lord.

Putting Lust To Death
The greatest challenge in the sanctification process for most Christians in this day and age is lust. But there is help and hope for all to stay sexually pure. Pastor Ramey outlines seven principles found in 1 Thessalonians 4:3-8 that make purity possible. These principles are effective when they are applied every day in the life of a believer.

Observing and Praising the Lord
This psalm, like many places in Scripture, commands us to praise the Lord with joy. This does not mean that we should manufacture an artificial emotional response but that we should observe the majesty of God and His perfect character and then respond accordingly. We sometimes have trouble praising God and this often happens because we haven’t spent enough time observing and meditating on who He is and what He has done for us, especially from what we see in the Bible. When we stop and spend time thinking about how powerful, faithful, trustworthy, and loving the Lord is it will help us to respond to His greatness with fitting words of praise.

The Sermon Heard Round The World
There are three reasons why God so powerfully blessed Peter's inaugural sermon at Pentecost. It was bible-based, Christ-centered, and application-aimed. Peter's sermon sets an example of how to deliver the gospel message and we can pattern our proclamations of the gospel after Peter's so that we can be powerful witnesses for Christ.

God-given Spirit During Trials
King David went through many arduous trials during his life, and God filled him with His Holy Spirit to help him persevere through them. David wrote this song during a time of trials and the God-given attitude during he exhibited during these trials is an example to us. David patiently trusted in the Lord’s provision and protection, he praised Him throughout the trials, he joyfully depended on the Lord, he was humbly teachable, and he was realistic about what he was up against.

The Lord is My Shepherd Part 3
King David continues to teach us about how God loves us by using the illustration of a shepherd taking care of his flock of sheep. Shepherds had to prepare fields to remove poisonous plants and they would anoint the sheep with oil to ward of harmful insects. God looks after us in a similar way as He provides for our needs and watches over us. It is amazing to know that the God who rules over the whole universe cares for insignificant creatures like us. We should celebrate this care and then love other people with the same kind of care that God has shown to us.

The Mark of the Beast
To many Christians, the Bible seems like a remarkably complex book, in no small part because of passages like Revelation 13. Indeed, a small cottage industry has arisen purporting to be able to decode such prophetic passages. The complexity of many of these writers and speakers has caused some Christians to believe they should leave it to the experts. But frankly, it's not that difficult. Key Scriptures: Rev 13, Rev 14:9-12

The Lord is My Shepherd Part 2
Sheep are powerless to fend off predators so a good shepherd must be skilled in fighting so that he can protect his flock from harm. The Bible teaches us that God is the shepherd of those who believe in Him, so they have the most powerful being in the universe as their protector, and the wisest being in the universe as their guide. This does not mean that God will never lead His children into difficult circumstances or make their life easy and comfortable, but instead it means that when we go through circumstances as dark as death itself that He is right there beside us to protect us and guide us through them, and this should be a source of tremendous comfort and hope in the midst of trying times.

The Lord is My Shepherd
Sheep are famous for being stupid, helpless, and timid animals. They need a shepherd to lead them to food, water, and rest, to track down the lost sheep, to protect them from predators and give them a sense of safety. The Bible compares us to sheep and it not a compliment. We too can be panicky, wayward, and incapable of taking care of ourselves. The great news is that the almighty God who created the universe cares deeply about each one of us, and if we put our trust in Him He will be our shepherd, providing for our needs, protecting us, and guiding us through even the darkest of circumstances.

The Lord is My Rock and My Fortress
We like to think of ourselves as self-reliant and capable of protecting ourselves. We arrange our careers, finances, relationships, and technology to this end, but eventually we get to a place where all of the money, status, medicine, and relationships cannot save us and the condition of our life is out of our hands. David wrote Psalm 18 after God brought him through a life and death situation where he was entirely dependent on God’s protection. David called out to God for help and God saved him, so David wrote this song to honor the Lord, his rock and fortress.

The church has a bad reputation because people feel judged by Christians and for good reason. Christians have turned judging those outside the circle of faith into an art form.
