Sermons About Blessing
Voices
Psalm 1 sets the tone for the the entire book of Psalms (and all wisdom literature for that matter) in that it shows the life giving wisdom in having concern for God, His Word, and godly living. Psalm 1 is an invitation and encouragement for God's people to strive to live wise and godly lives. This Psalm shows us that in life we have a choice - a choice of two lifestyles (the same two lifestyles we see depicted throughout wisdom literature) the choice of life or death - blessings or curses - a choice to go God's way or my own way - the choice of devotion to self or devotion to God and others. Will you devote yourself to the voice of God and His wordor will you listen to your own voice and/or the voice of the world and its philosophies? Key Passage: Psalm 1

Roots - Abraham: A New Beginning
In Genesis chapter 12, God begins a conversation with Abraham about blessing. This blessing was about more than God just causing him to prosper. God blessed Abraham so that others could be blessed. It's the beginning of God putting his family back together and repairing the brokenness we see in the world. God is a promise making and promise keeping God. This promise is eventually fulfilled in Jesus.

Sacred Parenting: The father and the fear of God
On this Father's Day we will see that the fountain head of the culture in the home is the father. He is the head of his wife and family. He is to be a servant leader in his home. As the head he should fear the Lord and walk in His ways. Such a man will be blessed in all of the contexts of his life (marriage, parenting, work and the community).

Passing On a Godly Legacy
At the end of the TV show, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, they park a big bus in front of the new house and have the family standing there in anticipation to see what their new home looks like. They are encouraged to shout, “Move that bus!” The family is always overwhelmed when they see the beauty and blessing of their new home. How can we experience the beauty and blessing of a godly family? Is there a way to pass on a godly legacy? In the book of 1 Thessalonians, the apostle Paul told them that he had treated them like a mother and a father as he shared the gospel and his life with them. He was thankful that they had believed and he challenged them to be witnesses and to be his “glory and joy” (1 Thess. 2:20). In other words, Paul said you are my spiritual legacy. We can learn from Paul’s example to leave a Godly legacy to our family.

Nevertheless
With the erosion of our society all around us; including the moral, financial, and political landscape, we need to be able to live in the land of "Nevertheless." Pastor James Hambrick brings us from the dwelling place of despair to the only place we can find hope; in our own "Neverthleless." This message deals with God's blessings to us and our need to embrace the One doing the blessing rather than the blessing itself.

Bless: A Study in 1 Peter 3:8-17
Peter reminds us as believers to love our neighbors and fellow believers as we love ourselves by feeling others pains and joys with compassion and humbleness no matter how harsh we may have been treated or fear we might be treated. We are reassured that if we rightly worship GOD by putting Christ first He will protect us and bless our faithfullness in the midst of any trial while the outside world worships GOD through your quiet and respectful witness.
