Missional Stewardship #4: A Simple Strategy for Missional Living
Luke 12:49-59 Why does Jesus stress this topic of faithful stewardship? Why must we make fueling the mission of Christ a life-long priority? The simple, haunting truth is that many around us everyday, while aware of their brokenness, are unaware both of the cure for it, and of the coming judgment before the court of heaven. But there is good news! Through His church, Jesus Christ is spreading the message of rescue, transformation, and forgiveness. It is our great privilege to be part of that rescue effort, using all we are and have to fuel the mission of Christ.

Show Us A Sign
In response to the miracle of vs. 14, some in the crowd demanded further proof of Jesus' Messianic role. In this text Jesus says that no more signs will be given, because they are blind to all that he has already done. They were looking, but not seeing! Jesus turns their request into a warning that is as necessary today as it was then.

The Blind Can See, But The Religious Can't
For many people, the greatest roadblock to faith; the lingering question that needs to be answered in order to trust God, has to do with the problem of pain. In his book of that title, C.S. Lewis said that “The possibility of pain is inherent in the very existence of a world where souls can meet.†Why does suffering happen? Whose fault is it? What role does God have in it? Why doesn’t God do something to stop the suffering we face? This is the very question that Jesus is asked here in John 9
