Sermons About Branches
From the Father: Faith, Friends, and Fruit
Because Jesus is the true Vine, and we are the branches, our calling is to stay connected to him, loving one another just as he has loved us. This is God's agape love - that holy, self-giving, sacrificial love. This love comes from the Father, is given to us through the Son, and moves out through Christ's people as we show and express this holy love, not just in words, but in action. Jesus calls us his friends - not servants, but friends. Because he has loved us literally unto death (his death upon the cross), his love sets us free to produce the fruits of faith: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. This is our calling in Christ.

Vine and Branches
Jesus is the Vine and we are the branches. Our identity comes from the Vine and we are now called to remain in Him. What now? How do we remain? We love. Not a hippie love, not a romantic love, a love that sacrifices and serves and obeys. A love that traces the Cross.
