Sermons About Call
Answering the Call
Our denomination called for days of fasting and prayer for Zimbabwe in June. Did we answer the call? Why, or why not?

Do Good: World
Like Jonah, sometimes God calls us to go to places we don't want to go to do impossible tasks that we already know God will take care of in the end. Though God's mercy endures forever and God holds all things in accordance to his will, still God calls us to go.

Gideon: Finding God’s Will (Judges 6:36-40)
Gideon was timid about answering God’s call – but he had a specific, divine mission to accomplish. In this sermon, we will look at why it’s important to discover God’s purpose for your life and how that helps to discern God’s will in specific situations.

Follow - week 1
The start of a new sermon series, looking at Luke's description of Christians as 'The Way'. What does it mean to be part of the Way? What does it mean to live the Way? In this sermon, week 1, we'll be looking at how Jesus invites us all to follow him, and why we should accept his invitation with all our hearts.

The Called Life
Along with God's claim on us - symbolized by our baptism - comes a call on our lives. Every disciple who opens herself/himself to the claim of God on our lives will hear a call. To hear the call, however, is not easy. In fact, it may be the most challenging moment in a disciple's life.

The Call Of The King
Jesus made great promises to people who would follow him. He promised freedom and fulfillment to his followers. The question is, "Are we really following him?" What if there is far more freedom and fulfillment than we have yet experienced? Is it because we have somehow slipped away from the understanding that following Christ is the necessary requirement for the experience of his freedom & fulfillment?

The Beginning at the End
While the ending of Mark's Gospel at 16:8 does seem abrupt, in light of the book's structure and intent, it's abruptness can be understood as a call to the reader to respond to the risen Jesus.

You Make The Call
Why do we pray? How do we pray? What should we expect when we pray? Today's message explores what God's Word says about prayer and helps us to understand how vitally important prayer is to our spiritual life, our personal life and the life of the Church.

Follow Me (AM)
Adam preaches Matthew 4:18-22. As Messiah, Jesus issued a reasonable call to the men who would become His closest followers. Immediately the two groups of brothers responded, an appropriate reaction to the words of the One who had already been proven as the Messiah.

Transformissional Gifts (SDSU)
Over the last few weeks we’ve been looking at this great topic of calling, what it is, what it means, and how it works out in our lives. Our hope is that we would come away from these messages recognizing that our call to God is primary to all other secondary callings we may sense or experience in our lives.

Transformissional Calling Part II (SDSU)
Last week we talked about our need for purpose and meaning as creatures, and without purpose, meaning and value we easily slip into boredom and apathy. One causes us to feel indifferent to things around us, another causes us to feel indifferent to ourselves or someone else, but both leave us with a desire for desires.

Transformissional Calling (SDSU)
The last couple of weeks we’ve looked at Paul’s radical conversion, his calling by Christ to give His life away. We’ve attempted to see what true conversion looks like and what true conversion believes. We are going to take a couple of weeks and teach on the subject of calling. It is perhaps the most distorted and misunderstood doctrine in the Church today and we need to recapture the idea of calling.

In Pursuit of Holiness
In Pursuit Toward Holiness? How Then Shall We Live? (The first in a series on holy living in a complicated world) Isaiah 6:1-8 The words saint, sanctify, holy, holiness in the New Testament are all translations of this same Greek root – hagi The verb hagios means a “set apart for God person” Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord. (Hebrews 12:14) But just as He who called you is holy , so be holy in all you do; for it is written: “ Be holy, because I am holy.” (1 Peter 1:15, 16) We face four defining experiences in our pursuit toward holiness. “YBH” Yes, But How? 1. It’s according to our proximity to God’s presence that we encounter His holiness. (verse 1-4) 2. Coming to a crisis of brokenness releases His holy transformation to make us Christ-like. (verse 5) 3. Accept the awesome cal to be “set apart“ for God from that which is secular. (verse 6-7) 4. We can’t help but to be compelled to take on His holy action and make a difference in this sorry world. (verse 8-9)

Trust Me
God called Noah, Abram and Mary to step beyond themselves to do something that would seem to be absurd. But in absurdity and in the face of impending opposition, God calls them and us to simply trust and obey.

Into the Water
This weekend we celebrate the accomplishments God has made in the past ministry year. As we respond to the missional call of God on our lives, we need to look into the future and ask ourselves: What would Kelowna look like if the rule and reign of God were made real among us? How would our lives have to change? How would the ministry focus of WPC need to change? Today, will talk about some of the dreams God is placing on our hearts for the coming months and years. Together we need to cry out - "Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven." Key Passage: Numbers 13 & 14

Standing in the Gap
Over the next 4 weeks we are going to talk about the call to transform our culture through missional living. "Missional" seems to be the latest "buzz-word" in the evangelical world; it describes a life that is lived "on mission". It is a concept that fits well with Jesus teaching that we are to be agents of change in our world. Jesus used metaphors of salt and light and yeast. Paul called us to be ambassadors. How should Kelowna be different because we were here? To begin this series, we begin by looking at the incredible power God has entrusted to His people, and the expression of that power through our prayers. We have been given authority to bind and loose on earth in the name of Jesus. Do we have any idea of the power given to us? Key Passage: Ezekial 22:30

The Master's Keys
We’re wrapping up our study in Hebrews this weekend. If you take nothing else with you - remember the call to persevere. God has uniquely called and destined you for glory. To be a reflection and manifestation of His glory here in this world - and in the world to come; co-regents with Him on the throne; given the keys of the kingdom. But far too often, we’ve been content to simply muck it out in the mud-puddles of life instead of stepping into our destiny. I believe if we could glimpse just a brief view of the glory for which we were created, it would astound and shame us all at once. Astound us at the grace and mercy of a loving God - and shame us that we were still so far short! It’s time to step into your destiny. The keys are in your hands....what are you doing with them? Key Passage: Hebrews 12:14-18 & 13:1-25

The Draft
God picks each of us to be part of what He is up to in the world - to be part of His team. When Jesus picks you to be on his team, He’s calling you to be a part of something that is about the most important thing in the world. He calls us to invest our lives in the lives of others and in helping connect people to God.
