Sermons About Care
God Has Not Forgotten
In the midst of suffering and struggle, life gets very difficult. For some, it seems like the struggle is unbearable. The days are constantly dark. The nights are sometimes long and sleepless. Hopelessness sets in and it seems like nothing will ever change. In these times of suffering, God comes alongside us to remind us that he has not forgotten. He is still in control and still at work. Throughout the first letter of Peter, called 1 Peter, we have seen the various areas of struggle that take place in the life of followers of Christ. We have seen the cost of it, and difficulty that is brings into our lives. But we have been reminded of the great hope that lies ahead for us at the return of Jesus Christ for our final salvation. The promise of God is that he has not forgotten. Though these days of suffering may seem long and at times unbearable, we must fix our eyes on the Savior who gave his life for us to redeem us and give us hope. He will ultimately take care of us. We simply must trust him enough to live life his way.

Freedom-Faith Relationships - Galatians #13
What makes the Christian faith like no other? The good news of God’s grace is the bold claim that we are accepted by God not because we “follow the rules” or “fit the mold” but because Jesus gave his own life to rescue us. But many of us are still trying to earn God’s love with our performance rather than living in the freedom that Jesus has provided for us. In Galatians, Paul warns against the danger of religious systems that value people on grounds of accomplishment or status or cultural agreement. These things lock away our freedom in the futility of legalism, moral superiority and cultural arrogance. Focusing on either the racial/ethnic/cultural superiority or the moral successes of good works denies the gospel and divides Jesus’ followers. Join us as we explore how God offers us true freedom in Jesus and how the freedom of Christ transforms our hearts, our minds and lives.

End of Service
When we serve "the least of these," we are serving Jesus. Isn't it neat that we are to be Jesus to the people we minister to, yet, when we minister...they become Jesus to us?!

Living In 3D
Our mission at Harbor of Hope is to help people find their way back to God, and this sermon contains practical instruction on how each of us can partner with our Creator to do so. Jed encourages us, that as believers we need to talk less and listen more; we need to care about people & develop relationships, not because it makes for a good marketing strategy for God, but because it's a relfection of God's priorities.

Behold your son
There have been many famous people who have uttered memorable words in their final moments of life. Last words say a lot about a person's state of mind and character. Nowhere else is this more true than with Jesus' last words from the Cross. His words during this intense time of suffering captivate those who are willing to look and see their meaning to those there that day, to us in this present time, and for each individual's future. Let's look at this gruesome and glorious day in history, where the Words and Work of Jesus speak loudly of God's love, justice, holiness, mercy and grace.

Conflict and Community: Saying No to God?
The impending doom of the cross is closing in on Jesus, so he cries to God out of the stress and fear of the darkness that lays before him. As he does, we are awed as we see the honesty and passion of Jesus’ prayer life. We are moved to worship as we see that the darkness he entered was the darkness of our own suffering, judgment, and struggles. We are called to enter into the darkness and suffering of those around us, seeking to cause the sun of God’s kingdom to rise higher over our communities and our city.
