Groups (Doing Life Together)
We admit it. We have an agenda: we want you to join the church. All believers in Jesus in every time and place are members of the universal church, but committing to a local church is a vital part of the spiritual life for every Christ-follower. In our teaching series, CHURCH 101, we are taking several weeks to describe the foundational commitments of church membership. Our members are those who have accepted the mission of helping others become passionate followers of Jesus through the ministry and community of this church. Over the next few weeks, we will discuss what that means as we explore practically how we can live for Jesus as a part of His church.

Care for the Community
Today is pledge Sunday. It is a special day when we ask our members and attenders to make a pledge for their giving for the entire year. This pledge is for His glory and the for the Lord’s vision for this church. We have some exciting opportunities before us and have set some ambitious goals. We have asked our congregation to pray about this and make a sacrificial commitment before God for the entire year. May God guide you as you turn in your pledge card. CCPC’s vision is to be an Evangelical Presbyterian Church with an Acts 1.8 impact. We have now completed chapter one of Vision 1.8 and are beginning chapter two based on Acts 2. Our theme for 2009 is also taken from Acts 2, and is Jesus is Lord, as we reflected in our Stewardship Challenge brochure. This sets out the direction for CCPC in the days ahead. After prayer, and much input from the congregation, we have set some new God-sized goals: Grow in Grace and Truth, Build the Body, Raise Kingdom Resources and Care for our Community. We have covered the first three goals and what they mean for us as a church. Today in the Word we come to the last, Care for our Community, and we will be looking at the Great Commandment and the Great Commission

Grow in Grace and Truth
Our underlying theme for 2009 is “Jesus is Lordâ€. The goal is to be an Evangelical Presbyterian Church with an Acts 1.8 impact. We have now completed chapter one of Vision 1.8. What is involved in chapter two? Today we begin discussing the second act of Vision 1.8, from Acts chapter two, of this very important vision. There are four parts to this vision, the first to be addressed in today’s sermon entitled, Grow in Grace and Truth. The next three parts, Build the Body, Raise Kingdom Resources and Care for our Community will be addressed in the next three weeks by our pastors, and they will share what these mean for us as a church. Pick up a Vision 1:8, Act(s) II brochure to read about where we want to go. After much input from the congregation and spending time in prayer we have set some new God-sized goals for 2009.
