Ebenezer
As we continue to pray and to study God’s word, becoming more and more attuned to God’s will, we will be more and more re-shaped, re-formed into the image of God in which we were made. If we want to see the new creation God promises, let us begin with ourselves. As we are reformed, so will be our institutions. Think about this: healthy things grow. Growing things change. Change challenges us. Challenges cause us to trust God. Trust leads to obedience. Obedience makes us healthy. And healthy things grow.

How to Face Challenges
Life is difficult. What do you do when you face challenges? During hard times we may be tempted to over spiritualize our problems. Or we become so intent on finding a solution that we forget to seek God’s wisdom through prayer. Pastor Hugo takes us to Exodus 17 to show us that a balanced approach to solving problems is essential.

Following Jesus does not exempt us from the storms of life.
Throughout the Old and New Testament God reminds us that those who follow His path of righteousness will face many challenges and storms. This is not God's doing. This is the reality of living in a fallen world and God can use these storms to remind of our need and transform us into new creatures in Christ.

The State of the Church - 2008
Change is hard, but God uses change to spur on growth. It is right to look back at what God has done through change and talk about how God may use change to grow us in the future. In 1 Samuel 7 we hear how God brought change to Israel. The changes led to victories that needed to be remembered and brought hope of things for the future. The background of this story is that the Philistines had stolen the Ark of the Covenant from Israel. Israelites had lost the presence of God and they were living in sinful ways. They desperately needed a change. God used Samuel and other means to bring back His presence to Israel and God used Samuel to teach the people to turn from sin and back to God. When they did, God defeated the Philistines. And Samuel realized the people needed to remember what God did and they set up a monument. It said, “Thus far, God has helped us.†This morning we are going to talk about how God has used change to help us and how God might use change to help us in the future. We are going to raise up 5 monuments from this first year and talk about 3 missions I believe God has for us this coming second year.
