An Unfinished Sermon...[2]
Sorry, but the first bit after the video (referenced in the first part of this sermon) is not recorded. IF YOU GOT HERE FIRST...please listen to part one first.
An Unfinished Sermon...
Enhancing God's reputation by reflecting Jesus in the world through relationships, good works, and worship. That is our Purpose Statement at New Life. The wording not only flows out of our Core Values (i.e., Biblical Authority, Lordship of Jesus, Evangelizing the World, Sanctifying the Saved, and Glorifying God - all from John 17), but its flow is intentional as well. If we are not engaged in relationships (e.g., both healthy ones within the Body of Christ and redemptive ones outside of the Body of Christ) and we are not engaged in good works (e.g., James 1:26-27; Ephesians 2:10), then God does not want our worship (e.g., Isaiah 1:10-17). This is why our Purpose Statement Triangle places “worship” at the top. God is concerned about social issues. The Gospel of Jesus Christ – in its original context – was social. The Body of Christ on earth (i.e., The Church) cannot continue to turn a blind eye to injustice in the world. Yet one of many difficulties in all of this is Christians, in any culture are far too _______. [Sorry: at the end of this track a video was played…it was 43.56-47.00 of “Side B” of Schindler’s List – where he is lamenting his possessions in light of lives he could have spared; unfortunately the first few minutes after the video are not captured on “2” of this sermon either]
