We need to understand that people amongst us are hurting and grieving like the widow in Luke's Gospel. Being the joyful followers of Jesus, are we meeting those who are hurting to touch them as Jesus touched this widow? Do we have compassion for those who are hurting? Do we offer them the healing words of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior? When the hand of Jesus touches us, we are no longer the same. We are changed forever.
What would you say if you see Jesus? Do we give Him reverence and respect? Are we in awe of Him; are we humbled before Him? Are you clean before God? Have you been touched by His outstretched hand in order to make you clean? Have you been changed by Him or are you same person as before your profession of faith? When God moves us are we willing to say "I am clean" and go out in the world and tell them what He has done for us?
Rejection of Jesus Christ is not intellectual, philosophical, or evidential; it is spiritual and moral. Has it ever struck you as amazing that Israel’s leaders were dumbfounded with the wisdom of Christ, people were amazed at the miracles, the prophets shouted with unified voice and epitomized in John the Baptist: this is the One; this is the Christ, the Messiah.
