Many historians claim that the Founding Fathers were not Christians, but Deists. Deists believed in a “God†who created all things but does not intervene in the workings of His creation.

Who's In Charge
Politics and religion are the two things people aren't supposed to talk about. But Paul mixes them well in Romans 13:1-7 where he calls on Christians to recognize that living sacrifices to God must still submit to government, not just because of wrath, but because it is the right thing to do. God established all governments, and delegated authority to them. Therefore, we must honor them.
