Sermons About Cleansing
The Cath Lab in the Vineyard
The word prune comes from the Greek word "katheroi" the root of our word catheterization. "katheroi" is also translated "to clean". God's goal for your life is fruitfulness-where fruitfulness is defined as the production of Christ-like character in your life.

All for One, & one for All
In the scripture this morning we see the Triumphant Entry into Jerusalem. We see the colt that had never been ridden; we see the crown throwing their garments in the way, cutting down palm limbs to throwing them in the way of the colt. They cried out Hosanna, a term of adoration. However in verse 10, once in the city of Jerusalem, others asked “Who is this?”

Have You Had Your Bath?
In John 13 Jesus is taking His last opportunity to prepare His disciples for His soon coming death. As He sits with them at the Passover meal, His Last Supper, He begins to serve them in a menial way as He assumes the position of a lowly slave by washing their feet. Peters abrupt refusal to allow such a thing provides Him with a great teaching opportunity. Jesus tells him, “He who is bathed needs only to wash his feet, but is completely clean; and you are clean, but not all of you." This sets the stage for a profound spiritual truth. Have you had your bath?

Espalier
One of the hardest lessons about gardening is that sometimes you have to pull out living, blooming plants in order to have a healthy garden. It's counter-intuitive, but all of that thinning and pruning involves pulling out or cutting off live plants, not just deadwood. Jesus says that his disciple-branches weren't cosen to be burned up, we were chosen to bear fruit - and bearing good frut involves pruning.

When you fall
When you became a Christian, you died to your old life and were raised, as it were, with Christ to a new kind of life. This is your new life of discipleship in which you follow Christ. But this new life is not automatic. Your life does not automatically start showing the “fruits of the Spirit.” When God places the desire in your heart, you still must carry through, take the next step, and do what God has asked you to do. The bad news is that we do not always take this next step; we stumble and fall by doing what God has asked us not to do. The good news is that God is ready to help. We believe that God is our Creator and that he is all-wise and all-good. This means that he determines what is right and what is wrong, and that his judgments are always for our good.

Clearing The House
Jesus cleared the Temple of all the junk that got in the way for people to worship God. He wants to do the same thing in us, the living, breathing temples of the Holy Spirit.
