Sermons About Comfort
You Say You Want a Revolution?
Jesus was threatening to the leaders of the Jewish nation because they feared he would lead the people to revolt against Rome and then the Romans would send in the legions and wipe out the nation. They didn't know the half of it! Jesus always threatens to revolutionize our lives, if we take him and his message seriously.

Ray Comfort & Eschatology
Gary takes Ray Comfort's eschatological view to task when someone asked how dispensationalists explain why the Lord hasn't not come back yet if Christians say "He will very soon." If all the signs are in place, does that not make Jesus a liar?

What do Mothers Teach us About the Heart of God?
What do Mothers Teach us About the Heart of God? Mother’s exemplify the nature of God’s comfort Isaiah 66:13 “As one whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you; you shall be comforted in Jerusalem.” Mother’s live out God’s heart of sacrifice Isaiah 49:15-16 “Can a mother forget her own baby, and not love the child she bore” Even if a mother could forget her child, I will never forget you. Jerusalem, I could never forget you! I have written your name on the palms of my hands.” Mother’s display God’s protective heart Luke 13:34 “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to you! How often would I have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you would not!” Mother’s reflect the gentle nurturing heart of God 1 Thessalonians 2:7 “As an apostle of Christ we certainly had a right to make some demands of you, but we were as gentle among you as a mother feeding and caring for her own children.” Mother’s pass on the godly training to be content and secure in God’s presence Psalm 131:1-2 “O Lord, my heart is not lifted up; my eyes are not raised too high; I do not occupy myself with things too great and too marvelous for me. But I have calmed and quieted my soul, like a weaned child with its mother; like a weaned child is my soul within me.”

Give Freely
Matthew 10:8 states, "Freely you have received, freely give." It is a foundational verse for our vision at Harbor of Hope; to be people who give freely, who lead generous lives. The questions that arise from this message have to do with whether or not we, as God's people, have become overly concerned with our own comfort, as oppossed to investing our lives in the causes of Christ and His Kingdom.

Greed and Grace
So much time is spent discussing our guilt for doing the things we knew we weren’t supposed to do. But little time is spent with our hearts broken over what He’s called us to do and be for Him. We’ve failed to do what God does and love what God loves. This has caused a great debt that has to be satisfied. If God owns everything, then you’re indebted to Him and Him alone.
