Sermons About Commit
Roll On
I love that little blue Kelowna book. Love it. It's full of maps, hints about where to eat and places to have a great time searching for your golf ball. (Well, some of us have to search.) I love it because it helps me recalibrate my perspective. There's another book that I love looking at for a perspective adjustment. Except it doesn't so much have street maps as it does soul maps. It has words like "trust", "commit" and "be still". It inspires, commands, laments, encourages, tells stories of tragedy, failure and hope. It renews our focus on God - on who He is and what He can do. Key Passage: Psalm 37

Envy
Envy is a lack of faith in the good things that God has planned for us. This is a call to trust in God, rest in God, and delight in God above all else, knowing that if we do he will satisfy our every want and need.

Recipe #4: You Can Both Win-EVERYTIME!
Recipe #4: Winning Fights: You Both Can Win—Every Time! “First take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.†Matthew 7:5 5 PATHS TO LOG REMOVAL 1. Call a Time Out. **“My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, for man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires.†James 1:19-20 **“God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble." James 4:6 2. Cry out to God. **“If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.†James 1:5 **“Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.†1 Thessalonians 5:18 3. Commit to Forgiving Your Mate. **“Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of malicious behavior. Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.†Ephesians 4:31-32 4. Choose a different Reaction. **James 1:21-25 Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you. Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it—he will be blessed in what he does. 5. Create Judgment Free Zones. **James 4:11-12 Brothers, do not slander one another. Anyone who speaks against his brother or judges him speaks against the law and judges it. When you judge the law, you are not keeping it, but sitting in judgment on it. There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and destroy. But you—who are you to judge your neighbor? TO YOUR MATE: I PROMISE to find God’s best in every trial. I give you the security of knowing that the negative things that happen in our marriage will not destroy my love for you. I will not expect perfection from you, but will use even the irritations between us as opportunities to see my blind spots and foster my personal growth. I will call on the power of Christ to root out my weaknesses. (Romans 8:28, James 1:12, Romans 5:3-5)

Father Knows Best
Our Father has expectations for each of us. Sometimes we follow and sometimes we flee the call of God, but He has the ability to make life change happen through the storms of life. When tempted to run from Him, I have to believe He knows best, surrender, commit to starting over, and give Him the chance to prove hinself and His ability.

Giving God Your Leftovers
Malachi 1:6-14 Part 4 "Giving God Your Leftovers" We give God our best when we: 1. Cease the pattern of living that displeases God. God is displeased with: * Prideful attitudes * Polluted actions 2. Check to see if what you give to God is what He demands. Two questions to ask before we give to God: * Would it be it accepted by our governor? * Does it ascribe glory to God? If the answer is no then: * God is not pleased * We have unanswered prayer * God would rather close the place down 3. Commit to living a life that is dedicated to God. This dedication involves: * Giving God what he deserves. * Giving to God what you have declared.
