Confronting Counterfeit Christianity
Jesus, though completely God, was rarely alone. He was completely set apart from every other human being who has ever walked this earth, yet he chose to live his earthly life in community. He showed us how to live in harmony with each other even though we come from different backgrounds and have different viewpoints. But he also taught us something else: the needs of people outside our community are greater than the needs of those inside our community. The hurting and desolate souls who have lost all hope are more important to him than the throngs of happy souls on their way to heaven. Jesus cares about your sorrows, your pain, and your loneliness, and he did something about it; he gave you his Church. The Body of Christ (the Church) is meant to be his hands and feet to a world in need of a Savior. Join us as we explore what it means to "Confront Counterfeit Christianity."

Humility
Community begins with humility. Humility enables me to accept God’s grace, thru the others He intends me to share life with in community. The quickest way to kill pride is to endure in community with others.

God's Compassion And Our Mission
It is clear from Luke 15 that religious people sometimes fail to understand what Christ is really about. Verses 1 & 2 say: Now the tax collectors and "sinners" were all gathering around to hear him. (that is, Jesus) 2 But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law muttered, "This man welcomes sinners and eats with them." They didn't get it. They didn't understand that God wants people who are far from him to be found and restored to Him. That's what Jesus was all about and we need to be like him.

Declaration of (in) Dependence Part 2
You can't ignore all the passages in the Bible that emphasize God's wrath and judgment. In fact, if you add them up, they actually total more than the passages about God's love. There are 600 alone in the OT. Here is a sampling from the NT: - John 3:36: Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him. - Romans 5:9: Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. - Romans 12:19: Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, "Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord." - Ephesians 5:6: Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. - And those don't even get close to detailing for you the number of passages that mention God's wrath against sin. Obviously, ignoring the Biblical teaching on wrath is not an option, so this week at Sovereign King, let's ask this big picture question: Big Picture Question: If the Gospel is about forgiveness, what happens to God's wrath and how should we live in light of that truth?

Remember Me
What mix of character traits we’ve seen so far in Nehemiah; humility, compassion, a love for God’s glory, the ability to inspire others, a great strategist, a man who prays intensely and waits up on the Lord, yet is a man of action, he’s hard-working, committed to God’s mission, a risk-taker, someone who pursues justice for the poor, hospitable, and generous in ways that make us take notice. But what Nehemiah wants most is not for people to remember or applaud him. Instead, he comes to God in prayer and asks God to remember him.
