Freedom in Christ
Our spiritual freedom was gained by Jesus & his substitutionary death. We are responsible to guard that freedom from legalism & license that we might grow in hope & love.

The Witness of the Spirit (Romans 8:16-17)
The pillar of our security and assurance in our salvation is the gospel. Do you know, understand and believe the gospel? Are you actively and persistently putting your faith in Christ? Here is your primary assurance that you belong to Christ. In addition to this primary means of assurance, we may also draw assurance from the fact that the gospel and word and Spirit are at work in our lives producing the fruit of the Spirit; and from our experience of God's peace and comfort and nearness in the Spirit.

Death by Degree
The gift of sexuality is one of the most powerful forces in our lives for both pleasure and pain. Like fire, sexuality, in its proper place, is both powerful and beneficial. But out of control, it can also become a destructive force. Satan is able to use sexual sin in a devastating "one-two" punch in our lives. First, we are tempted to move away from God's ideal, into sin. After we sin, Satan then turns the mirror on us to condemn and ridicule us. As your pastor, my hope and prayer for you is that you would step into the fullness of sexual healing and fulfillment. That your desire to walk with Jesus Christ, and to be used by Him, would not be compromised because of hidden sin in your life.

The Justification of Sinners (Romans 8:1)
Paul turns in Romans 8 to consider the amazing privileges of the justification that he has spelled out in the preceding chapters. The sinner's cry for deliverance at the end of Romans 7 is answered in this: in Christ there is no condemnation. We review the nature of our sin and guilt, the wonderful goodness of God in providing propitiation and reconciliation for us, and finally how this comes about -- through our union with Christ.

Biblical Faith is an Obedient Faith
The obedience that accompanies biblical faith will always be a two edged sword. One edge will show the world and the church that we indeed are legitimate believers and heirs of righteousness and the other edge will heap condemnation on the unbelieving world. In other words it is important how you live.

The Superior Christ (Romans 5:15-17)
From Adam we have inherited sin, guilt, condemnation, and death. But in Christ and by his death we receive so much more than mere restoration of these things. We receive not only forgiveness, but justification, the very righteousness of Christ. And we receive not only life, but eternal life, victorious and reigning life.
