Sermons About Conflict
Our Desires and Jesus' Control
Mark 3:20-35 Our reaction to the person of Christ requires action of us: either rejecting His claims, or embracing His Lordship. Indifference is not a plausible, logical, or valid response. How have we distorted who Christ is in our own lives? Are we deceived and missing out on the fullness of life in relationship with Christ?

Mark 3:7-21
Mark 3 details why there was such hope and anticipation built around the person of Christ in His early ministry, not unlike the expectation that currently has been placed on President Obama. James Sutton explains the significance of Christ strategically choosing 12 disciples, and the personalities that accompanied them. Mark 3 illustrates that God always has permanent solutions in mind when we may only desire immediate fixes. Are your desires too small for Jesus' objective sometimes?

Cravings and Conflict (James 4:1-2)
James explains that the root problem in our conflicts is worse than we think: it is our own sin, specifically our sinful cravings that make idols out of our desires and then fight for them. Fortunately, the answer is also easier than we think -- the forgiveness and reconciliation that we receive through the cross in humbling ourselves to confess and repent. NOTE: This is a recording of the same sermon delivered at another time and place. There were technical issues recording the sermon at Sovereign Grace Church.

Community in the Midst of Conflict
Jesus is challenged by the religious leaders of his day, “Who do you think you are?†As Jesus answers this question, he creates both conflict and community. His answer gets to our hearts—where do we really stand? His answer creates both conflict with hypocritical leadership and community among those who have experienced the indescribable grace that he offers to all.
