Freedom-Faith In Partnership with God - Galatians #12
What makes the Christian faith like no other? The good news of God’s grace is the bold claim that we are accepted by God not because we “follow the rules” or “fit the mold” but because Jesus gave his own life to rescue us. But many of us are still trying to earn God’s love with our performance rather than living in the freedom that Jesus has provided for us. In Galatians, Paul warns against the danger of religious systems that value people on grounds of accomplishment or status or cultural agreement. These things lock away our freedom in the futility of legalism, moral superiority and cultural arrogance. Focusing on either the racial/ethnic/cultural superiority or the moral successes of good works denies the gospel and divides Jesus’ followers. We admit it. We have an agenda: we want you to join the church. All believers in Jesus in every time and place are members of the universal church, but committing to a local church is a vital part of the spiritual life for every Christ-follower. In our teaching series, CHURCH 101, we are taking several weeks to describe the foundational commitments of church membership. Our members are those who have accepted the mission of helping others become passionate followers of Jesus through the ministry and community of this church. Over the next few weeks, we will discuss what that means as we explore practically how we can live for Jesus as a part of His church.

Faith or Observance of the Law
Paul continues his argument to show the Galatians that we are justified by faith, and not by works of the law (circumcision, ceremonial & moral law). He uses 3 arguments in this passage: the Galatians' own experience, Abraham's experience & the testimony of the Law. Faith rests or relies on Jesus for salvation, and receives the many blessings He has purchased for us.
