There is deep comfort that comes through faith in Christ but it comes at a high cost because there is also opposition and sometimes hatred. You follow Christ not just for comfort but out of conviction. And if you follow him you will need the courage of your convictions because you will face conflict and hostility.

John 16:1-15 - The Spirit of Conviction
Jesus sends His promised Holy Spirit to help us know Him, and one of the ways that the Holy Spirit helps us is to cause us to feel convicted about our sins through the teachings of the Bible. As painful as this can be, we should not ignore or suppress this conviction but instead accept the rebuke, turn from our sinful behavior, and walk in obedience to Christ.
