Genesis 1 - In the beginning
Without the first 3 chapters of Genesis we would have no idea of WHY the world was made, and WHY we are as we are today. These 3 chapters are basic for our understanding of life as we have it today. They speak of God the Creator, of people made like him and of their dis-graceful fall from perfection. Yet these chapters have given rise to fierce disagreements amongst Christian and non-Christian people. They have been explored as if they were modern science or a psychological text book. What we have in Genesis is a piece of brilliant ancient literature; with a description of the world coming into being, of God making people to live on earth and the consequences of those people deciding to live in contradiction of their Creator. These 3 chapters are some of the most helpful in this world, and demand our close scrutiny. You’ll never find truth like this anywhere else; you may find a few myths about creation, but nothing so profound, so true, that rings with reality as we know it. This is the basis for both Jewish and Christian beliefs – and read correctly set us on a course to know the Creator God for ourselves. Without Gen 1 we would not know who we are or what our purpose as humans is. We would not see the grand picture of Perfection; Fall and Redemption. We would be like ants working ourselves silly till someone crushed us – and that’s how many people feel – just cogs in the vast mechanistic universe. No, we are people made by God, made for God, made to dance with God. We should respond with delight at the world God’s made; with thankfulness for placing us in it and with responsibility to look after it. We should worship this God of Creation – and no other.

Where Did This All Come From?
As a culture, we have pushed aside the idea that God created all things. As our schools began teaching theories of how our planet and solar system came into being and Darwinian evolution, we started questioning the simplicity of what the Bible says. Where ever you are in your thinking, please listen with an open heart and mind while I spend a few moments asking you to question those theories and ultimately give God the rightful glory as creator.

Let's Get Creative!
In the beginning, God created. We were created in the image of the Creator. Creativity is part of our makeup. It’s what makes us human. We were created to create. It pleases God when we use our creativity to His glory.

The Impact on Creation
When we watch or read the news and hear about all of the natural disasters like tsunamis, hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, etc. we sometimes wonder why. Why does God allow these things to happen. Sometimes we even blame God for their occurrence. Is there any other explanation? Why do they many times seem to be more and more frequent and even more severe? Is it all natural causes? How God lost control? Are they God's judgment on wicked people? When sin entered into God's creation here on earth it was like dropping a very large rock in the middle of a small pond. Adam, the point of impact, was not the only one affected; but the ripples began being felt throughout all creation including nature.
