We Have a Mission, Part 1
As a local church, we can't possibly meet every need, but we can do our part. God is calling us to help bring His provision, healing, and restoration to as many as we can. We have a mission!
After God Comes Through
In Psalm 116, we are provided with a beautiful individual song of thanksgiving after God came through for the psalmist at a time of desperate need in response to prayer. The psalmist demonstrates three appropriate responses in the calm after the storm of personal crisis, namely, Think Back, Thank God, and Testify Before God's People. In doing so, we can be certain that our lives and the lives of those around us will never by the same and that God has not wasted our troubles.
Seasons of Crisis
All people living in a fallen world experience seasons of crisis sooner or later. In these seasons, it can be easy to become disheartened to the point where others and even we ourselves may start asking, "Where is God?" Not only that, these seasons of crisis reveal our misplaced trust in idols. And so, in this context where circumstances seem to be spiraling out of control and it feels like God is nowhere to be found, the central theme of Psalm 115 hits home. Where is God? He is in heaven and He does whatever He pleases. Whereas our idols visible, but pitifully inadequate, the Lord is invisible, yet powerfully in control. In light of His sovereignty, trust in the Lord, knowing that He will help, protect, and bless His people. In the meantime, praise Him right here right now together with His people, even in the middle of a season of crisis, with full assurance that He will ultimately come through as He has promised.
Facing the Family Crisis
Pastor Gary Combs begins a 6-week sermon series entitled "Family Feud" with this message from 1 Samuel he calls "Facing the Family Crisis." In the book of 1 Samuel the high priest Eli is a success at work, but a failure at home. There are three warning signs that his family is in crisis, but he ignores them. This message shows us how to recognize and respond to the crises facing our family today. Also, includes a duet by Gary and Robin Combs of the song, "Show Me Thy Ways" (written by Gary Combs). (Special thanks to our game show contestants, Stuart and Paula Haste!)
Righteous Indenty Crisis
The 21st Century man is consumed with an identy crisi of unparalled proportions. After decades of puursuing selfactualization and self-fulfillment our nation and much of the western world has discovered that we have squandered over half a centrury chasing the wind, discovering little more than darkness, frailty and selfishness. It is time for an identity revolution, a rightious identity crisis.
