We are...Patchwork Saints
We are a patchwork of saints, knit together by the Gospel of the cross of Jesus. We are NOT a perfect church that never quarrels, but our rips and tears are knit and mended by the grace of Jesus. If we learn to value this ordinary patchwork of saints more highly than we do the artificial display model, we just might find that we are becoming more mature together.

Let Go and Let God (I Peter 5 5-7) 9-20-09
The humility to which Peter calls his overwhelmed readers is a humility motivated by faith that God is mighty, and mighty in His concern for our absolute good.

Lose Your Life to Christ and His Cross
From this crucial text in the gospel of Mark, Pastor Brian Curtis asks us: 1. What does it mean to lose your life to Jesus' cross? and 2. Why is it worth the sacrifice to do so? Listen to the words of our Lord as he calls to deny our selves, take up our cross, and follow him. Listen as Christ calls us to lose our lives.

We are...Saints by Calling
If you believe in Jesus then you already are part of the church. To not be part of the church is contrary to Jesus' call to you, contrary to your call on Jesus in faith, and contrary to your vocation as saints to be actually holy. But that doesnt mean you necessarily need to be part of this church. Just don't make it about you and don't determine by personally selfish desires. Commit to the real people here with you and just stick with it until we reach heaven together.

The Upside-Down Kingdom
39In those days Mary arose and went with haste into the hill country, to a town in Judah, 40and she entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth. 41And when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the baby leaped in her womb. And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit, 42and she exclaimed with a loud cry, "Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! 43And why is this granted to me that the mother of my Lord should come to me? 44For behold, when the sound of your greeting came to my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy. 45And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what was spoken to her from the Lord." 46And Mary said, "My soul magnifies the Lord, 47 and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, 48for he has looked on the humble estate of his servant. For behold, from now on all generations will call me blessed; 49for he who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is his name. 50And his mercy is for those who fear him from generation to generation. 51 He has shown strength with his arm; he has scattered the proud in the thoughts of their hearts; 52 he has brought down the mighty from their thrones and exalted those of humble estate; 53he has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he has sent away empty. 54He has helped his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy, 55 as he spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and to his offspring forever." 56And Mary remained with her about three months and returned to her home.

Play Ball
“Denying ourselves” in the sense that Jesus uses it, means more than just doing without. It’s more than “giving to the poor” or working in a food bank, although those things matter too. Denying ourselves means embracing the gospel and living according to its demands, even at the cost of our own lives.

Return to the Cross
The Bible is God’s written revelation to man. It is the Scriptures. And if this is true, it is life and death. For those who dabble but don’t believe, Jesus won’t be here forever. There will be a day when it’s too late. When you’re face to face with Jesus and instead of beholding Him as your Savior, you’ll be looking into the eyes of your Judge. And you won’t be able to go where Jesus is.
