Die Daily
What did the apostle Paul mean when he wrote, “I die daily?” There are actually two things he meant: 1) that he faced the threat of death everyday, and 2) that he died to self each day. In many ways, you also face the threat of death everyday through the many unknown or unseen circumstances such as disease, accidents, etc. The whole reason Paul endured such hardship is because of the hope of the resurrection—a teaching not accepted by many in the city of Corinth. He went on to teach that it was vital for the listener to die to self before they would come to life just as a seed must be buried before it can come alive and grow. You must live a life fully surrendered to God, trusting his death on the cross to save you.

The Community of Grace (Romans 14:1-10)
We are to welcome and accept one another warmly, in spite of our differences, for the same reason that God has welcomed and accepted us -- we are recipients of grace, declared righteous in Christ. We will often differ with one another over secondary matters, but the gospel provides and builds a unity that allows us to disagree in humility and love.

Sunday Sermon for Week 16-09
Paul reminds his Gentile readers that they were once trapped in their transgressions and sins, and so were spiritually dead and alienated from God. Later, Paul says whereas the Gentiles were once excluded from citizenship in Israel, they are now members of God’s Kingdom. In fact, the relationship is far more intimate. They have become family. What happened in between to bring about this change? Paul points out that this great change occurred because of Jesus’ death on the Cross and the shedding of His Blood, that union with God is possible.
