Sermons About Culture
Babylonian Bar and Bistro
Every day followers of Jesus face a myriad of choices that define their citizenship and their loyalties. We walk with a tentative step and live in a constant state of "tension". How can we live IN this Babylonian world, and YET not be poisoned by the waters? Is it possible to sit at the barstool with friends and neighbors who are drinking deeply from the "kegs" of life that offer them power, pleasure, sex, money and fame - and yet be unaffected myself? Won't my friend next to me wonder why I'm not drinking from the same cup as they are? Won't I stand out like a sore thumb? Key Passage: Revelation 17:1 - 19:5

Go to Him and Bear His Reproach 2
What reproach did Christ endure? He was mocked. He was reviled. He was beaten. He was betrayed. He was spit upon. He was falsely accused. He was persecuted. And He was crucified. This is what the writer means by going outside the camp. To go outside the camp you put yourself at great risk. You now have left the security of the culture where to fit in is safety. You have now entered the Kingdom of God where discipleship lesson number one is that you are called as a Christian to suffer.

Go to Him and Bear His Reproach 1
What do you want your life marked out by? Compromise? Bowing down to the gods of this age? Or do you want your children and grandchildren and later generations to know without a shadow of a doubt that you were a Christian and you were a man or woman whom the world was not worthy of? After all, you are going to be remembered for something.

The Cross and The Culture
Culture will never give us stability. Culture always promises the next thing will fully satasify ones needs. If you are not satasified with what you have more will never be enough. We can live our lives chasing cultural guide lines and get nothing out of life. Or follow Gods direction for us and receive eternal life.

Reaching The Lost Part 4
God is concerned with filling his house with people. Believers are ambassadors for God. As believers we need to connect with the unbelievers and fill his house. You do not have to tell lost people they are lost. Reaching the lost is the heart beat of God. God is interested in numbers, He wrote a book by the name, Numbers. The spreading of the Good News is not for the benifit of God but for the benifit of the lost. Lost people are looking for direction. Not only as believers do we need to point the lost in the right direction but we must also lead the way.
