Daniel - Series Round-up
Throughout this series we've seen people worshipping man-made gods and idols, but these are inneffective. Daniel's God, however, is the one, living, eternal and all-powerful God. The only God who rescues and saves and demonstrates His power to bring people to Himself. God isn't someone remote and 'out there', but is personal and close by. During this week we should remember that He is right there with us, seeing and knowing us - the God who made us. When we pray, we are talking to the real, living God; placing our trust in the real, living God. Let us rejoice that we have a personal relationship with the real, living God.

Finding Freedom
Who is truly free? The three Hebrew men in Daniel 3 were slaves by all definitions, but these slaves were far freer than their master. This tells us that freedom is something more than mere political independence.

True Worship
Worship, is what God wants, it's what Satan wants its what most of our world wants. True Worship is not based on technology or trends it is based on who God is and what He has done. We can understand from the few glimpses of worship in heaven what true worship looks like. God has revealed for us personally and corporately how to worship Him in an honoring way.

Standing Tall in Tough Times - Jim Polhemus
Standing Tall in Tough Times This morning we will examine 3 men who are well known biblical characters, and who failed in situations to stand up for what they believed. Pilate, Aaron, and Solomon all wanted to satisfy the crowd. They gave us 3 fundamental flaws that we want to stay away from. 1. They didn’t speak up when they knew something was wrong. (Mark 15:10, Exodus 32:22, 1 Kings 11:2) 2. They went along with the “mob-mentality”. (Mark 15:14, Exodus 32:23, 1 Kings 11:4) 3. They succumbed to peer pressure. (Mark 15:15, Exodus 32:23, 1 Kings 11:6) These men were politically powerful, religiously connected, and in Solomon’s case, the greatest in riches & wisdom above all other kings of the earth. (1 Kings 10:23) We as Christians can take 3 steps to stand tall amidst the everyday pressures we face. 1. Develop a solid Christ based foundation from which everything else grows. (Matt. 7:24-29) 2. Develop the ability to stand against opposition. (Galatians 5:1) 3. Practice clear thinking in difficult times. (Colossians 3:1-4) Joseph, Daniel, and Stephen displayed strength in order to impact their situations and make a lasting change. 1. Joseph ~ Genesis 39:9-23 2. Daniel ~ 6:10-23 3. Stephen ~ Acts 7:1-60

Daniel 1:1-21
Our Holiday Bible Club this summer will follow Daniel and his friends on their Babylon Adventure, so we're going to spend the next few weeks getting to grips with the book of Daniel. The events take place at a time when Gods people have separated into the Northern and Southern Kingdoms, but both have been disobedient to God. The Northern Kingdom has already suffered Gods wrath at the hands of the Assyrians. Now it's the turn of the Southern Kingdom as Babylonian King Nebuchadnezzar, the regional superpower, brings unstoppable might to bear, even walking into Gods temple in Jerusalem and walking off with his plunder. Where was God in all this? What were Gods people to think... was God still there? Was He dead? Was He just a delusion? Not only was God not dead, he was in control all along, even though the people couldn't see it. In the same way, when we feel as though God has abandoned us, we can have faith that He's still there and still the only thing that really matters. We need to keep telling ourselves - Our God reigns! Our God reigns! It's as true now as it was for Daniel and his friends. As Daniel shows us, we should not shut ourselves away in a Christian bunker, but engage with the world while staying loyal to our King, knowing when to say no to those things that might weaken that bond. Don't eat at the enemy's table! Daniel's faith eventually bore the fruit of his captors conversion. If we live as God wants us to we will eventually be proved to have been right! Vindicated!
