God wants us to trust fully on Him. Israel was trusting in their own strength instead of God and God showed them that it was a bad idea. We have a choice of which path to take and God in his mercy allows us to choose but we live with the consequences. David and Israel faced the consequences for their choice and we too face the consequences of our choices.
