Sermons About Deception
Jesus Christ & The Word, Pt. 5 (Matthew 5:20)
Anyone who is religious or "spiritually minded" naturally considers themselves to be OK with God, to have a righteousness that is acceptable to their Creator. Jesus teaches that the righteousness required to enter the kingdom, to be saved from the wrath of God, to have fellowship with God is something far beyond human works. The righteousness required is a righteousness that is granted through faith in the Person of Jesus Christ.

Nehemiah (#7): Deceptive Distractions
After handling an internal struggle in the last chapter, our main man Nehemiah must once again battle against an external enemy bent on his destruction. This time though, their tactics have changed. Instead of obvious and outright opposition, they resort to deception and try to trick Nehemiah into diverting his attention. As we study Nehemiah 6, there is much to learn from Nehemiah's wisdom and how he handled the deceptive distractions to his mission.

Roots - Jacob: Wrestling With God
This week we take a look at Jacob. He was easily the most crooked man portrayed in Scripture. There doesn’t seem to have been a single redeeming feature in his life until that night when God wrestled with him and changed him. God never gave up on him and he doesn't give up on us.

The Gospel of Authority
Ephesians 4:11-14 teaches that for the growth into unity of faith and the knowledge of Christ, spiritual leadership is necessary and instituted by God. This section of Scripture teaches important truths concerning the institution and function of spiritual leadership. Reference is made to Genesis 3 and Philippians 2, which refer to rebellion and submission to authority from Adam to Jesus, and why submission to authority is difficult.

Triumph and Treachery
How do we deal with others who deceive us, mistreat us, threaten us, and misunderstand us? By saying today, Father forgive them, they don’t understand what they’re doing. Help me to love them as you have loved me. Help me to not cling to my life and need their approval. Help me to love and fear only you. Thank you for freeing me from the need to control my life and to need approval from others. Let me live out of that truth as you restore me so that others can see how good you are.
