Sermons About Depravity
That Every Mouth May Be Silent (Romans 3:9-20)
Paul's argument in this passage is that of a prosecutor. He demonstrates beyond any doubt that we are totally depraved, that our sin leaves us with no defense before a holy and righteous judge. By ourselves we cannot earn God's approval, and we deserve only wrath and judgment. But praise God for his provision of a Savior, Jesus Christ, who is our advocate and our righteousness. Though everyone stands guilty before God, everyone who calls on the name of Jesus will be saved, accepted by God, and adopted into God's family as his child.

Q And A With Dr. Steve Lawson
In an age of water-downed theology and casual Christianity, the church desperately needs to return to the doctrines of grace that shook the world during the Reformation. These grand truths-historically referred to as the five points of Calvinism (TULIP)-form a biblical outline of God's sovereign plan for saving sinners. Sadly, these foundational principles the Bible so clearly teaches about salvation are often misunderstood and misrepresented and as a result are often discredited and dismissed as divisive doctrines, or worse, unbiblical ones. Consequently, many Christians never experience the God-glorifying, Christ-exalting, pride-crushing, gratitude-inducing, worship-inspiring, missions-motivating, evangelism-encouraging, discipleship-promoting, soul-comforting, faith-strengthening, and life-changing effects that occur when one fully embraces the sovereign grace of God.

Session 1: Total Depravity
Sin controls every part of man. He is spiritually dead and blind, and unable to obey, believe, or repent. He continually sins, for his nature is completely evil.

God's Judgment on Idolatry (Romans 1:24-32)
Paul points out that idolatry, rejection of God's goodness and authority, is at the root of all sin. Idolatry begets the sins that are listed in this passage; God gives up idolaters to impurity, dishonorable passions, and debased minds. But Paul also spells out the hope for sinful idolaters -- the One who was himself given up for our sake.

Accountable to Heaven
Luke 13:1-9 If God is holding us all accountable, then how do tragic events fit with this? Does God judge personal sin through disease, tornadoes, brush fires? Are tragic events and experiences really the veiled hand of God? Jesus faced these questions in His day, and His answers give both comfort and direction in ours.

Afraid of the Dark?
Continually through the Gospel of John we see that the disciples are called to act and live like Jesus. And so even here in John 8, as Jesus is the Light of the World, it becomes clear that his disciples are called to reflect the Light to the world around them.
