As in a good news/bad news joke the severity of the bad news has the effect of making the good news that much better. The same is true with the good news of the gospel. Unbelievers won't respond to the good news of Christ's sacrificial death until they understand just how desperately bad their condition is. Likewise, Christians can't fully appreciate how much we have received from Christ until we understand just how far we were separated from him by our sin. Do you have an enemy? Every Superhero had and enemy-Batman had the Joker, Superman had Lex Luther, Xmen had Magneto, even the roadrunner had the coyote. However, as a Christian we don’t just have one enemy, we have three and these three enemies are seeking our doom, working against to make us fall, to fail, even to kill us and destroy us in every way spiritually. Who are they? They are the world, the flesh and the Devil.
Because of what Christ has done for us in the gospel, Christians must submit their lives completely to God. This comes through resisting the devil, drawing near to God and seeking comprehensive holiness. Commit your entire life to God in humble devotion and watch what he will do!
