Pain, difficulty and sometimes suffering is a part of every person's life. But those experiences have particular value in a Christian's life. This message looks at the reasons Jesus gives us in John 16 for why God permits suffering in the life of his children and the good that can come from it.

The Christian life is not pain free. God uses the pain to help us grow. This is a very challenging concept but unfortunately a very true reality. Seeing a larger purpose in pain can help us as face it.

Living in a culture not used to suffering for Christ brings unique challenges to our faith. This message prepares God's people for reality and embraces the resource of the Holy Spirit operating through us into a sinful world.

Empowered with the promise of God's presence and the reality of God's presence, Jacob journeyed to the east and found his mother's family. He encountered them in a most ordinary circumstance that was reminiscent of his mother and father discovering each other at a well. But upon discovering the family, Jacob responds with great joy and relief. It is a reminder to us that the difficulties and uncertainties of the Christian life are experienced precisely because it is carried on through the ordinary circumstances of life, and that God is present in such circumstances.
