Sermons About Disappointment
God is Present
Disappointments and unmet expectations in life fool us into thinking that God is absent. The reality is that he is using all these disappointments and difficulties to draw us to him, to show us how fully available he is to us and to get us to make ourselves fully available to him.

A Powerful God for Powerless People
We are powerless to change our circumstances, and our hearts. But God is powerfully able to change both. He makes great promises that reveal both his power and his love toward us.

Hannah - Overcoming Disappointment
In this sermon series Pastor John will look into the lives of four ordinary women mentioned in the Old and New Testaments. Rahab: reminds us of how dramatically God’s grace can rebuild a sin-ravaged life. Hannah: exemplified the dedication of motherhood and the importance of making one’s home a place where God is honored above all. Anna: is briefly mentioned in scripture but is an example to us all of how to be a faithful witness to the glory of God, and then there is Lydia: a woman who had a heart wide open for Christ. Not one of these women were perfect, faith was the root of everything that made these women extraordinary. They are our reminders that God uses imperfect vessels “that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us” 2 Cor. 4:7

The Ups and Downs of Life
In the ups and downs of life, we have no idea how deep the downs will go, how long they will last, and how steep the ride up will be. Often, we feel so overwhelmed by the downs that it threatens our faith in God and causes us to wonder if he is really in control. It is during the down times that God is usually doing his best work in our lives. All of us find it easy to live when things are going well. But God brings the down times so that we can learn to experience his grace. From the life of Joseph, we can learn how he handled the down times so that we can learn how we should handle them.

Dying to Live
God creates life in the midst of grief. God creates love in the midst of loss. God creates faith in the midst of despair. Resurrecting us from death regardless of its form and its size. God showed it to Ezekiel as he stood in the valley of the dry bones. Jesus showed us by taking the road to Easter right through Good Friday. So, what about you? Do you have any bone-filled graves in your life? Any failures, disappointments, regrets, griefs or fears that continue to bury you? Secrets or anxieties that continue to haunt you? Can these bones live? I know the one who answered the question once and for all. And for centuries He's been in the business of bringing dead bones to life and taking the bits and pieces of our lives - like scattered Legos - and making something beautiful out of them.

Continuing in prayer in the face of continual disappointment
Ken Stebbins preaches the 3rd sermon in our Elijah: Man of Prayer series. Elijah faced continual disappointments in the mission God gave him, reminding him to trust fully in the Lord. The "fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much," as it did with the widow of Zarephath. Just as his prayers were persistent and specific, so ours should be.

Dream Child
Sometimes we don't get the child we had dreamed of and hoped for. [Note: This message owes much to a message of the same name by Daniel Meyer, which can be found at PreachingToday.com. While I adapted the main idea behind this message, I believe I did enough work on it to claim it as my own, with credit given to Meyer.]
